Because pains in joints and other parts of the body are frequently attributed
to inflammation there is a prevalence of anti-inflamatory drug usage.
The net benefit inevitably comes into question due to the side reactions
to these drugs. New drugs come into favor until new side reactions become
apparent and the cycle continues. This is one of the reasons for the
increasing cost of drug development and health care in general. We have
long advocated getting a Touch for Health muscle/energy balance before
resorting to medication for aches and pains. Pain is often greatly reduced
or even disappears after a balance. The change is sometimes so instantaneous
that one wonders whether inflammation and swelling are the cause of
the pain.
Warren Hammer, MS, DC, DABCO. Writing in Dynamic Chiropractic, March
2004 discusses "apoptosis", the medical term for the normally
occurring death of cells so that new cells can take their place. In
the scientific community it is thought that apoptosis is activated by
genetic programming. Much of the aging process is thought to be a result
of apoptosis.
Necrosis not the same as Apoptosis
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dr. Hammer points out that necrosis, another type of cell death, is
caused by inflamation as a result of injury rather than genetic programming
as in apoptosis. In both cases the dead cells are cleaned up by phagocytosis:
white bloods cells act like vacuum cleaners, absorbing and disposing
of the dead cells.
Dr. Hammer also presents a new term, "tendinopathy", replacing
tendonitis and tendinosis. Teninopathy refers to degeneration without
inflammatory cells, indicating apoptosis or genetically programmed cell
death, which might be a reason for pain.
Abnormal Breakdown by Apoptosis
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The question is, why does the communication break
down in these joints and other tissues so that an abnormal amout of
apoptosis is taking place? We now know from the studies in genetics
that one gene rarely causes anything by itself. One gene, or an interaction
of genes, may start a cascading effect and other genes are turned on
or off according to a complex design for optimum function in a wide
variety of circumstances.
Could Harmonizing Communication Relieve Pain?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Could we be harmonizing the genetic functions with
the TFHK energy balances that allow the changes to take place so rapidly?
Is pain a signal that something is going wrong in the communication
system between cells in the whole person? If the communication is restored,
then there would be no need for the pain signal. This seems like a possibility
because of the many anecdotal reports I have received over the years
from my own patients and from many people using TFHK around the world.
Consider Being Part of the Research
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A recent grant from the International Kinesiology
College should allow us to be ready by the end of this year. We will
be calling for people that are using TFHK protocols to report their
results on the Internet at our soon to be established research data
site. Consider being one of these participants by learning to use the
recording methods that are on our new etouch CD. Get Your eTouch CD.
